Lahoud: Lebanon is fortified by its national unity, not affected by developments in the US

The Lebanese President Emil Lahoud has stressed that there is no direct effect of the incidents that recently took place in the US on security in Lebanon.

Talking to a delegation representing the northern al-Matin ( al-Matin al-Shamali) municipalities federation, President Lahoud said Lebanon is fortified by the unity of the Lebanese position.

He added that there are no fears on Lebanon from developments took place in the US because the whole world has come to know that security in Lebanon is maintained and that laws are implemented firmly.

The Lebanese President also stressed the determination of the Lebanese state to deal with the economic conditions despite difficulties facing it.

President Lahoud also met at the Baabda palace on Friday with the new US ambassador to Lebanon Vincent Battle and reviewed with him general conditions in the light of regional developments and Washington's position towards them especially following the bloody attacks against Washington and New York.

The ambassador expressed his country's gratitude over the sympathy shown by the Lebanese officials towards the US following the attacks.
