King Mohammed receives US ambassador to Morocco (reopens)
Morocco-USA, Politics, 9/14/2001
Morocco's King Mohammed VI, accompanied by Prince Moulay Rachid, received Thursday at the Royal Palace in Tangiers US ambassador to Morocco, Ms. Margaret Tutwiler.
After he expressed once again his immense sympathy for the victims of a tragedy that bears the ignoble mark of cowardice, ignorance and bestiality, King Mohammed VI renewed to Ms. Tutwiler the solidarity of the Moroccan people with the American people in these moments of tragedy and absolute horror.
King Mohammed VI stressed in this context that the genuine response to those who made the choice of blind terrorism lies in the capability of the free and democratic world not to cede to the vertigo of old fears and of nihilism and in opposing the advocates of barbarism and of crime with the power of life and the utter respect of the spiritual and philosophic values, which are the sole foundation of our civilization.
That is why, King Mohammed VI went on, Morocco is determined to maintain unchanged and without the least weakness, all its activities and all national and international events on the working agenda of our country. Any other attitude would give an unacceptable bonus to those who want to impose, with blood and ignominy, their law on the rest of the world.
At the end of the meeting, King Mohammed VI renewed the wish to see Morocco and the USA associated in a move that privileges dialogue, negotiation and equity, while forming a united, flawless front, against all forms of terror of those who chose to be outlawed by the international community and by the values that inspire us.
The Royal audience was attended by foreign affairs and cooperation minister, Mohamed Benaissa.
