No credible or specific threats against US citizens, interests in Egypt

A Statement by the US embassy in Cairo appreciated sympathy and support of President Hosni Mubarak and the Egyptian people with the Americans people's ordeal.
The statement, issued Wednesday night, cited a cable of condolence the Egyptian leader sent to US President George W. Bush.
"President Mubarak sent a message of condolence to President Bush and the American people. The Minister of Foreign Affairs, the Minister of defense and other senior government officials has called the ambassador as has the secretary general of the Arab League", the statement said.
"On behalf of the US people, we have expressed our appreciation for their concern and their support at this tragic time. " It read.
The statement said that "All US commercial and private flight Operations remain suspended. Information from Washington, DC indicates that a decision is pending about resumption of flights into and through US airspace." It added that US government facilities in Cairo and Alexandria
"Will resume operations on Thursday, September 13, with limited exceptions."
The statement pointed out that the exceptions "include non-immigrant visa processing, notaries services, and libraries."
"American embassy staff have been advised that their children may return to school on September 12. However, for those attending the Cairo American College (CAC), the board has decided the school Will not be open before Sunday."
The embassy underlined that there are no "credible or specific threats to US citizens or interests in Egypt. " "However, America citizens are urged to maintain a high level of vigilance and to take appropriate steps to increase their security," the statement added.
