Moroccan-Korean round table on investments in Marrakesh
Morocco-South Korea, Economics, 9/13/2001
A round table on the promotion of trade and investments between Morocco and South Korea was held in Marrakesh earlier this week.
The round table explored prospects for enhancing trade and investments relations between the two countries and assessed the current level of trade exchanges. A special focus was laid on investment opportunities in the city of Marrakesh.
The ambassador of South Korea to Morocco, Chul-Ki JU, who was attending the event, said the two countries have been working since 1962 to enhance their cooperation in economic, commercial, political and cultural realms. He recalled that trade exchanges between the two countries exceeded $ 100 million in 1998 and that last year South Korean exports to Morocco were worth $ 89 million and imports from the kingdom totaled $ 50 million.
South Korea is Morocco's 25th supplier and 37th client, the diplomat said, stressing the need to give momentum to trade flows between the two countries and to identify the sectors providing investment and partnership opportunities to Korean companies.
The event was initiated by the Marrakesh chamber of commerce, industry and services in cooperation with Korea's trade center in Morocco.
