Washington offers Sudan $ 100 million
Sudan-USA, Politics, 9/13/2001

The US has decided to offer Sudan USD 100 million as humanitarian aids, including USD 25- 30 million to be offered during the next fiscal year.

The US special co-ordinator for humanitarian affairs in Sudan Andrew Natations said in a statement that the aids include educational and agricultural projects in southern Sudan.

Natations said that there are indicators on achieving a progress at the humanitarian level in Sudan during the past four months. He added that the Sudanese government has permitted for the first time, carrying out a trip at the patronage of the US during which 8 tons of foodstuffs were transported to the areas which are controlled by the rebels in southern Sudan.

He explained that neutrality towards humanitarian efforts made by the American side was asserted, noting that the relief operations are not subject to political considerations.
