American embassy in Amman closed
Jordan-USA, Politics, 9/13/2001
Sources at the American embassy in Jordan said on Wednesday that the embassy has closed its doors before the public and confined its activities to necessary works only, following the attacks at American cities launched on Tuesday.
A source in the embassy in Amman said that the embassy is only open for main works.
Meantime, the Jordanian security sides reinforced the already tightened security measures at the entrances of the embassy in Abdoun quarters and the surrounding roads, while the Israeli embassy at Um Azeneyah quarters in western Amman took more tightened measures.
Jordanian security sources said the reinforcement also covered all utilities and western embassies.
Jordan has condemned the attacks and said they are in contradiction to all religious and humanitarian values.
Moreover, the Jordanian- American Association canceled a conference which was due to be held on Wednesday (yesterday) on the free trade agreement between Jordan and the US as well as an exhibition for American products because of the security conditions.
