Mubarak exerts efforts to bring peace in Middle East region
Egypt-Israel, Politics, 9/12/2001
The People's Assembly Speaker Ahmed Fathi Sorour said on Tuesday that President Hosni Mubarak has been exerting tireless efforts to bring about a just and comprehensive peace in the region.
Sorour, head of the delegation to the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) conference in Ouagadougou, refuted the allegations of the Israeli delegation's chief that Israel had not bombed Palestinian schools and hospitals.
"All Israeli violations are proved in the Mitchell report, including its bombing of schools and hospitals in Hebron, Bethlehem, Rafah and khan Younis in addition to its destruction of a church and a mosque in Beit Jalla," he said.
Sorour asked the Israeli official for the reasons behind Israel's rejection of the dispatch of international observers to the Palestinian lands and its refusal to resume peace negotiations.
On his part, Minister of the Affairs of People Assembly and Shura Council, Kamal AL-Shazli, delivered a speech on which he called on the international community to take certain policies to punish Israel and to enforce it to comply with childhood charters.
