UN General Assembly meetings might be postponed

Egyptian Chief delegate to UN Ahmed Abul Gheit anticipated that the coming session of the UN General Assembly would be postponed due to bombing attacks that rocked New York and Washington on Tuesday.

In statements to Middle East News Agency over the phone, Abul Gheit said that chaos prevailed in New York after cars overcrowded the streets.

"Thousands of workers returned home on foot," said the senior Egyptian diplomat.

Abul Gheit expected that work in the UN headquarters will be postponed till US authorities finish all necessary security procedures.

"Working in the upcoming session was set to start on Tuesday and the session itself was to kick start on September 24, "said the Egyptian diplomat.

He added that the extraordinary summit an children was originally scheduled for Wednesday.
