Morocco, Mauritania set up reflection group on bilateral cooperation

Morocco and Mauritania will set up a reflection group entrusted with identifying cooperation opportunities.
The announcement was made by Mauritanian foreign affairs and cooperation minister, Dah Ould Abdi, at the end of a Moroccan-Mauritanian meeting on the sidelines of the official visit of King Mohammed VI to Nouakchott September 10-12.
He also announced that the high joint commission will meet in Morocco before the end of the year.
The meeting that was co-chaired by Dah Ould Abdi and his Moroccan peer, mohamed Benaissa, looked into the various conventions and protocols signed during the first session of the high joint commission -June 2000 in Nouakchott-and surveyed cooperation opportunities.
Benaissa recalled at the meeting the instructions by King Mohammed VI to make of Moroccan-Mauritanian partnership a model for south-south cooperation and a platform for enhancing cooperation in the whole region.
Morocco and Mauritania are both member of the Arab Maghreb Union (UMA), that also musters Algeria, Libya and Tunisia.
