Syrian- Lebanese social, economic committee discusses means of strengthening bilateral relations

The Syrian- Lebanese social and economic committee on Tuesday in Damascus held a meeting under the chairmanship of the Syrian prime minister Muhammad Mustafa Miro and his Lebanese counterpart Rafik al-Hariri, in the presence of several ministers representing the two sides and the secretary general of the Syrian- Lebanese higher council Nasri al-Khouri.
The participants in the meeting discussed prospects of the existing cooperation between Syria and Lebanon and means of bolstering it at all levels for the interests of the two sisterly countries and peoples.
A joint press statement was released in conclusion of the meeting in which the two sides stressed that several important decisions were taken to eliminate the obstacles impeding the launching of commodity exchange and improving cooperation in the areas of land, sea and air transport and carrying out set economic joint projects in the area of gas and many others.
The statement stressed Syria's continued support to Lebanon and backing it in all fields, noting that the two countries are linked to the common destiny in their confrontation of foreign challenges and the continued Israeli provocation.
