On Arafat's visit to Damascus
Palestine-Syria, Politics, 9/12/2001

The advisor for the chairman of the Palestinian Authority Nabil Abu Rudinah said on Tuesday that the chairman of the Palestinian Authority Yasser Arafat will today ( Wednesday) pay a two- days visit to Damascus during which he will discuss current developments in the Palestinian territories.

In a statement he made in Gaza, Abu Rudinah added that Arafat's meeting with President Bashar al-Assad is considered a consolidation to the meeting recently made at the Amman's Arab summit conference and in the context of the Syrian- Palestinian co-ordination to support the common Arab position.

He added that the forthcoming meeting between the chairman of the Palestinian Authority Yasser Arafat and the Israeli foreign minister Shimon Peres will not be held before Arafat's visit to Damascus and his meeting with President Bashar al-Assad.
