Differences on the meeting between Arafat and Peres

Nabil Abu Rudinah, the advisor for the chairman of the Palestinian Authority Yasser Arafat said on Monday that difference still exist between the Palestinian and Israeli sides on the place and the time of convening the expected meeting between the chairman of the Palestinian Authority Yasser Arafat and the Israeli foreign minister Shimon Peres.

Abu Rudinah added that the Palestinian side told the higher representative for the foreign policy of the European Union Javier Solana on Sunday its readiness to convene the meeting in Egypt with Peres but so far no answer was received from the Europeans to this effect.

The Israeli government had refused a proposal made by the Palestinians to convene a meeting due yesterday at Taba resort in Egypt between the chairman of the Palestinian Authority Yasser Arafat and the Israeli foreign minister Shimon Peres.
