Mubarak confers with Kuwaiti, Saudi FMs
Egypt-Kuwait, Politics, 9/11/2001
Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak received Kuwaiti First Deputy Premier and Foreign Minister Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jabir Al Sabah, who are currently on a visit to Egypt.
Foreign Minister Ahmed Maher and Kuwaiti ambassador in Cairo Abdul- Al-Qana'ai attended the meeting.
Sheikh Sabah participated in the Arab foreign ministers meetings in Cairo.
Emerging from the meeting, Sabah said that the meeting with the president was a good chance to exchange views on the Middle East as well as bilateral relations between the two countries.
On reports about an Iraqi initiative for reconciliation with both Kuwait and Saudi Arabia, Sheikh Sabah dismissed these reports, noting the issue of the Kuwait- Iraq State of Affairs was discussed during the Arab summit in Amman.
He voiced hope that the Iraqis would manifest good intention by returning Kuwaiti POWs.
Even if they (the pows) were all killed, we want their bones so that their relative would know what has happened to them, said the Kuwaiti Foreign Minister.
Former Arab League Secretary-General Esmat Abdul Magudi has intervened in the past and so did others but to no avail, he added.
On whether there is something new about the offices of king Abdullah II of Jordan as regards the Kuwait- Iraq State of Affairs, Sheikh Sabah said so far there is nothing new, expressing readiness to respond with king Abdullah.
