Ukrainian Deputy Foreign Minister in Morocco

Ukrainian deputy foreign minister, Vladimir Yeltchenko, arrived in Morocco Monday on a three-day work visit.

The Ukrainian official told reporters upon arrival in Casablanca he will confer with several Moroccan officials on means to enhance exchanges between the two countries.

We must hoist economic cooperation and exchanges to the level of the excellent political relations existing between the two countries, he said, adding that the sectors of phosphates and fisheries provide opportunities for a fruitful cooperation. The Moroccan fishing fleet can be revamped in Ukrainian shipyards, he said.

Morocco can also be a platform for the promotion of exchanges between Ukraine and Africa and Ukraine can be a platform to enhance Morocco's exchanges with the countries of the former USSR.

Morocco's ambassador to Kiev, Mohammed Azhar had told MAP on the eve of the visit that the Ukrainian official will confer with secretary of state for foreign affairs and cooperation, Taib Fassi Fihri, the minister of social economy, small and medium-sized enterprises and handicraft, in charge of the government's general affairs, Ahmed Lahlimi, and minister of maritime fisheries, Said Chbaatou.

He will also meet members of the Moroccan employers' association, la Conf?d?ration G?n?rale des Entreprises du Maroc (CGEM), and executives of the state-owned phosphates corporation (OCP).

Relations between Morocco and Ukraine, which are excellent at the political scale, are called to be enhanced in the cultural, economic and social realms, the Moroccan diplomat said.
