On the Iraqi refugees in Saudi Arabia camp
Iraq-Saudi Arabia, Politics, 9/8/2001

The Iraqi government today called on the Saudi authorities to encourage the Iraqi refugees at Rafha camp in Saudi Arabia to return back to their country and c-operate with the UNHCR to achieve this objective.

An official spokesman for the Iraqi foreign ministry accused the Saudi authorities of placing obstacles before those refugees through several practices, namely terrifying them and convincing them that they will be damaged or sued if they will return back to their country, instead of encouraging them to return back voluntarily to Iraq.

The Iraqi official also accused the Saudi authorities of practicing barbarous measures against the Iraqi refugees including:" tortures, imposing curfew at night time, preventing them from connecting with relatives or the outer world and obstructing visits of UNHCR representatives to the camp."
