Saudi Arabia-Israel, Economics, 9/7/2001

The Saudi ministry of commerce has recently arrested a shipment of " Carrot meals " coming to Saudi from Israel via Poland, according to the Saudi daily al-Riyadh in its Thursday's issue. The paper added that the arrested amount of " carrot- meals" is in 325 barrels with each barrel weight 200 Kg coming from Poland.

The paper explained that the original source of this material was revealed in the cover of one barrel where on a list the name and address of a company in Israel is written, adding that this shipment was discovered in the quality- control laboratory in al-Dammam to the east of Saudi Arabia before it entered the country.

The paper which did not give mention to the name of the Israeli company added that immediately after this amount was arrested, the Saudi minister of trade Osama Faqeih called on traders and importers not to import from suspected Polish companies or dealing with them. The Saudi minister also called on officials concerned to warn foreign companies from the consequences of collaborating with any Israeli company or with a third party to bring Israeli commodities to the Saudi markets.
