Two Palestinians were killed, one Israeli soldier killed, another wounded in Toulkarem
Palestine-Israel, Politics, 9/7/2001

One Israeli soldier was killed and another was wounded in an attack carried out by the Palestinian Intifada youths against an Israeli military car, while the Israeli forces assassinated two of the Fatah cadres and wounded other three when an Israeli helicopter struck the car they were riding in Toulkarem.

Meantime, the Israeli prime minister Ariel Sharon renewed his commitment to the policy of settlement and expansion and announced he will bring in more Jews from all parts of the world to Israel, noting that Israel has prepared a strategy to bring into Israel one million Jews during the 15th coming years.

In a statement to the Russian papers issued on Thursday on the sideline of his visit to Moscow, Sharon centered on what he called realizing the security for the Israelis. He, on the other hand, reviewed his rejection to make negotiations with the Palestinians to halt the cease- fire, repeating his conditions to halt the Intifada before halting these negotiations.

Meanwhile, the Israeli daily Maareve said that the foreign minister Shimon Peres once again met in secret on Wednesday with the chairman of the Palestinians legislative council Ahmad Qrei' and discussed preparations to convene a meeting between the chairman of the Palestinian Authority Yasser Arafat and Peres. This meeting is expected to be held next Monday.

On the other hand, the Israeli occupation forces prevented the employees of the Islamic al-Awqaf ( Islamic Trusts ) department to continue working in renovating the southern wall of the holy al-Aqsa mosque, at a time when the Israelis launched their racial statements against the Arabs.

The Israeli official in charge of the Palestinian schools in the Israeli ministry of education Moshe Shouhat described the Arabs as " animals and blood-suckers." In protest of these statements, most of the Arab schools in the territories of 1948 started a general strike, while member of the Israeli Knesset Talab al-Sane' called for the trial of Shouhat because of his statements against the Arabs.
