Washington prepares a peace initiative in Sudan

The US " Los Angeles Times" has announced that the US will announce a diplomatic initiative the week with the aim of initiating a mediation between the Sudanese government and the rebels in southern Sudan.
The paper added, according to American officials, in its issue published on Wednesday, that discovering new oil sources in Sudan, might provide a possible success for the mediation.
The paper added that the mediation which might be declared today ( Thursday) with the announcement of the White House appointing former Senator John Danforth from Missouri as a special envoy to give a push forward to peace efforts in Sudan.
The paper added that the administration of the US President George Bush also intends to disclose a large aid program at a value of USD 30 million to provide humanitarian relief and development program in Sudan.
