More Israelis quit the settlements

The number of Israeli settlers who quitted the settlements and re-settled in the territories of 1948 has increased following the escalation of the security and economic crisis they suffer.

The Israeli Hebrew- language radio said that more than 3% of the settlers of the " Jordan valley" area ultimately left the settlement because of the loss of the feeling of security.

The Israeli radio added that the settlers in these areas have recently sent a patent signed by them to the Israeli prime minister Ariel Sharon in which they asked to ensure housing and work opportunities inside the territories of 1948, stressing refusal to stay in the settlements they had built in the Jordan valley because of the very bad security conditions and the economic crisis they suffer.

Also the number of Israeli soldiers who refused the perform military service in the occupied territories was increasing.

The radio added that 62 military men sent a message to Sharon and Benjamin Bin Aleazer in which they stressed their refusal to perform the military service in the occupied Arab territories. They indicated in their message to the policy pursued by the Israeli government in the occupied territories resulted in the collapse of the Israeli economy.

At the Palestinian level, the chairman of the Palestinian authority Yasser Arafat has stressed the determination of the Palestinian people to continue its message to "hoist the Palestinian flag" over Jerusalem, despite of all difficulties and the grave military escalation against the Palestinian people as well as the escalation continued against the Palestinians, cities, towns, villages and camps.

In a statement to the press at al-Sharja school at the al-Shate' ( the coast) refugees camp during an inspection visit to schools in Gaza on the occasion of the new school year Arafat indicated Israel's use of the internationally banned weapons including poisonous gases and the depleted uranium.

He added:" Our Palestinian people are determinant to continue the message of civilization which will raise high the Palestinian flag over the walls, churches and mosques of holy Jerusalem, as a capital for the state of Jerusalem."
