Al-Shara meets with Louis Michael

The Syrian foreign minister Farouk al-Shara has stressed that the withdrawal of the US and Israel from Durban conference is a failure for both of them, before being an indication for the failure of the conference.

In a statement to the MBC TV al-Shara said: " We, Arabs and Muslims, seeks and hope to provide this conference a success and that the success of this conference depends on what it will conclude."

Al-Shara added that the Israeli practices - which are very numerous - are known and practiced daily against the Palestinian territories. They are racist practices.

The Syrian foreign minister expressed the hope that the European group will understand the Arab position. He added:" we do not exaggerate our demands, nor the words we want. Should there is talks about Semitism, it should also state that Arab are also Semitists and that the hostility against Semitists also should means not only hostility to the Jews but also hostility against Arabs and Muslims. If there is a holocaust it was a holocaust in Europe to which Arabs and Muslims have no links to." He indicated Israeli racist practices that resemble the holocaust of Jews that being practiced now on the Palestinian territories.

Al- Shara, on the other hand, held talks in Durba on Tuesday evening with the Belgian foreign minister Louis Michael, whose country is the current President for the European Union and also head of the EU delegation to the world conference against racism and racial discrimination, dealt with main points debated on the agenda of the conference and means of reaching common points for providing it a success.

Al-Shara stressed the role that can be played by Europe to achieve the objective behind convening it which is to fight racism and racial discrimination. The foreign minister also explained in details the Israeli racist practices against the Palestinians and the Arabs in the occupied territories.
