Some 13 Israelis wounded in a suicide operation in Jerusalem

A Palestinian man has carried out a suicide attack on Tuesday morning in al-Anbeyaa street in Jerusalem that resulted in wounding 13 Israelis, including one Israeli soldier in a critical condition and in killing the man immediately and his body was not identified because of the strong explosion.

Sources at the government of the Israeli prime minister Ariel Sharon, currently visiting Moscow, held the Palestinian authority responsible for this operation, while the Israeli President Moshe Kitsave said that:" the operations which are carried out inside Israel bring catastrophe to the Israelis" noting that chances to reach a peace agreement with the Palestinian Authority are diminishing gradually.

The Israeli President also called for tightening the siege on the Palestinians and to totally separate the areas supervised by the Palestinian territories and the territories of 1948 held by Israel, as well as the areas of the Israeli settlements in the West Bank and Gaza, under the condition that most of the occupied Arab territories to be kept under the control of the Israeli forces and settlers, noting the need to expel the Palestinians from areas Israel intends to control in case such a separation plan is implemented.

Meantime, the Israeli forces broke into areas in Deir al-Balah to the south of Gaza for three kilometers under an intensive cover of the heavy fires of the Israeli tanks and heavy machine-guns, while the Israeli soldiers arrested six Palestinians members in the People's Front For the Liberation of Palestine under the charge of resisting the occupation. The Israeli gun-boats opened its fire at a Palestinian fishing boat to the south of Gaza and wounded three fishermen by various wounds.

On the other hand, the higher representative of the foreign policy at the European Union Javier Solana was met by hostile slogans chanted by the Israelis while he inspected the site of the suicide attack in Jerusalem.

The Israelis voiced statements against the Europeans and the conferees at Durban conference. The Israelis also accused Solana of racism and urged him to return back to Durban and voiced racist slogans like " death for the Arabs." Worthy mentioning that Solana arrived in Jerusalem on Monday in a mediation mission between the Israelis and the Palestinians in order to prepare for a meeting between the chairman of the Palestinian Authority Yasser Arafat and the Israeli foreign minister Shimon Peres.
