Japan denounces using force against Palestinians

Japan voiced deep concern over the deteriorating situation in the occupied territories, particularly after Israeli troops resorted to excessive force against the Palestinian self-ruled areas since 25 August.

This was included in a release issued by the Japanese Foreign Ministry and carried by Japanese embassy yesterday.

The statement added that if the cycle of violence by the two sides continue, the possibility of achieving security and peace will dwindle further and it will claim the lives of more innocent people.

The statement expressed hope for the change of the situation to the better, urging all parties concerned to exert utmost self-restraint, so as to achieve completely the recommendations of Mitchell's report as soon as possible.
