Another win For El-Guerrouj
Morocco, Sports, 9/3/2001
Morocco's World Champ and 1500 M record holder, Hicham El Guerrouj, on Sunday won the 1500 m race at the athletics meet of Rieti, Italy, clocking 3:29.08.
He was followed by Spanish Diaz Andres and Kenyan Chrichir Cornelius.
On Friday, El Guerrouj had won the 2000 meters of the Berlin meeting and secured his share in the 50 kilos of gold ingots which reward the winners of the IAAF Golden League.
Among the other Moroccans participating in the Rieti meet, Salah El Ghazi, came in third in the 3000 m race behind Kenyan Betty Mark and Spanish Alberto Garcia. Another Moroccan, Abderrahim Goumri, came in fourth in the same race, while his countryman, Mohamed Amyn, ranked 7th.
