Turkish official and the relation with Syria

The Turkish prime minister Polent Acawet said on Wednesday in an interview with the Israeli daily Haartez that the already improving relations between Syria and Turkey will help the Syrian- Israeli relations, but he noted that any of the two sides ( Syria, Israel) did not ask him to do so.

Acawet added that Israel has not to be concerned concerning the developed relations between Ankara and Damascus and the possibility of having a negative impact on the relations with Israel. He added that Turkey will be able to preserve the establishment of good relations with Israel and the Arab states simultaneously.

He added that there is no connection between Turkey's relations with Syria to the relations between Ankara and Tel Aviv, adding that if Turkey's relations with Damascus are good, they will serve the Israeli interests.

Concerning Turkey's relations with Syria and Iraq regarding the question of the waters of the Tigris and the Euphrates, the Turkish prime minister explained that his country's position towards this matter has not changed, stressing that these waters are Turkish and not an international waters and they ( the three countries) share these waters appropriately.
