Lebanon, US development agency sign cooperation agreement

The Lebanese minister of the Interior Elias al-Murr and the director of the US agency for development Jan Pressler on Wednesday in Beirut signed an agreement of understanding to help the Lebanese municipalities.
Following the signing ceremony the Lebanese minister said that by this act:" we lay the foundation stone on the road of organizing and arranging works of provinces and municipalities in Lebanon."
The Lebanese minister added that the agreement which is of a cost of USD 15 million covers helping giving administrative support to all Lebanese municipalities in order to develop their administrative and financial capabilities and equip and develop the administrative departments at provinces and districts centers.
The US official, for his part said that the relations between the Lebanese government and the American agency for development during the two past years constituted the good background for the success of set programs.
