Jordanian measures on the travel of Iraqis
Jordan-Iraq, Politics, 8/30/2001

The Jordanian weekly al-Wahda ( unity) said in its Wednesday's issue that the Jordanian official sides concerned had taken measures to limit the movement of the Iraqi citizens between Jordan and Syria after the recent Syrian decision which states to remove restrictions on the entry of the Iraqis to Syria. And this resulted in the flow of thousands of Iraqi citizens who live in Jordan to visit Syria.

Several of the Iraqis who returned back to Amman from short visits to Syria said that the Jordanian authorities concerned gave them the permission to stay only for 72 hours in Jordan whereas , before the said Syrian decision, they used to give the Iraqi a permit to stay for two weeks to be renewed at the Jordanian security centers.

These Iraqis expressed their regret and wonder to the Jordanian measures and the motives behind these new measures against them.
