Kuwait denies news concerning downed US pilot-less plane
Kuwait-Iraq, Politics, 8/29/2001
The first deputy for the Kuwaiti Premier and the foreign minister Sheikh Sabah al-Ahmad al-Sabah has refused the Iraqi accusations that the US planes which was downed by Iraq on Monday took off from the Kuwaiti territories.
In a statement to the London- based al-Sharq al-Awsat daily issued on Tuesday, the Kuwaiti foreign minister said that the pilot-less plane which was downed, took off from ships and can not take off from Kuwait.
The paper also quoted Kuwaiti sources as saying that Iraq's continued escalation reflects the fact that there is no desire in the Iraqi regime to calm down conditions.
