The opposition chairman at the Israeli Knesset Yusi Sarid said that the Israeli prime minister is making his best efforts in order to prevent any new meeting between the Israeli foreign minister Shimon Peres and the chairman of the Palestinian Authority Yasser Arafat.

In an interview to the Israeli Hebrew language radio on Tuesday Sarid added that Sharon has definitely decided not to be subjected to any international calls and pressures on the need of continuing negotiations with the Palestinians, adding that Sharon is doing his best to block the road before resuming negotiations with the Palestinian Authority.
