Egypt supports Palestinian stand
Egypt-Palestine, Politics, 8/28/2001

Egyptian Presidential political advisor Osama E1 Baz said that Egypt strongly supports the Palestinian stance, out of its belief in the justice of the Palestinian cause.

During his meeting Sunday night with Egyptian university girl students, Baz stressed the need for Israel to freeze settlement construction, withdraw from Palestinian lands, halt acts of violence against Palestinians and restart the final status negotiations with the Palestinian authority to solve the Palestinian issue.

On his recent visit to the US at the instruction of President Hosni Mubarak, Baz said that the American administration, with open mind, listened to the Egyptian viewpoint on this cause.

He expressed hope that the US would play a more active role in the region to push forward the peacemaking.

He added, "We do not defend the American interests, rather, we turn all world state's attention towards the necessity that the USA had to change its policy towards the Israeli aggressions so as not to endanger its interest" .

The right of Palestinian people to defend their lands is a legitimate and firm one, he said, noting that Israel is trying to delude the world into believing that it is facing an Islamic terrorism.

"This is a serious case which should be confronted through boosting Arab media capabilities to expose Israeli lies and claims and post world states on the legitimacy of the Palestinian cause," he added.
