Mubarak, Qaboos discuss ME peacess
Egypt-Oman, Politics, 8/28/2001

Sultan Qaboos of Oman arrived in Sharm El-Sheikh Monday coming from Doha on a private visit to Egypt within the framework of an Arab tour that included Qatar and will also take him to Saudi Arabia and Bahrain.

President Mubarak and Sultan Qaboos will discuss the latest developments in the region in light of Israel's escalation in the occupied territories in addition to means of promoting relations between the two countries.

Talks between the two sides fall within the framework of consultations and contacts held by President Mubarak at the Arab and International levels to salvage the Mideast peace process and put an end to escalating Israeli violence in the Palestinian territories.

President Hosni Mubarak and Sultan Qaboos Ben Said of Oman held a session of talks in Sharm El-Sheikh on Monday.

The Mubarak-Qaboos talks come as part of contacts and consultations President Mubarak is holding at the Arab and international levels to salvage the stalled peace process and put an end to Israeli attacks on Palestinian lands.

The two Arab leaders pursued, over the working dinner, their discussion of the latest developments in the Middle East, bilateral relations and issues of mutual interest.

On the Western bias to Israel, the Omani official said Arabs should convince the west of their just cause and to remind them of their interests in the Arab world. We should use logic with the West not challenge them.
