Ancient Reservoir unearthed in sultan Ghouri's public Water-Fountain

A mission from the Supreme Council of Antiquities (SCA) unearthed a 500-year-old reservoir in the Sultan Ghouri's public Water-Fountain.
Ayman Abdul-Monem, director of the historical Cairo information centre, said the reservoir, 12 metres long, six metres wide and nine metres high, was built by Sultan Qansuh AL-Ghouri in 1504.
The reservoir is the third one to be unearthed after the Zeinel-Abidine and Muhammad Ali ones.
Moreover, Minister of Culture Farouk Hosni said an integrated project to rescue and restore Sultan Ghouri's archaeological collection will be carried out with a cost of LE 18.5 million in coordination with Cairo governorate.
