Arab Affairs Committee calls for declaring Israel 'racist state'
Egypt-Israel, Politics, 8/27/2001
The Arab, Foreign and National Security Affairs Committee at the Shura Council Sunday called on all world countries and anti-racism forces to propose adding the declaration of Israel as a racist state to the agenda of the third international antiracism conference, due to take place in Durban, South Africa, on Friday.
A statement by the committee said the conference declaration should include international protection for the Palestinians based on the UN resolutions, documents and treaties on human rights and the return home of Palestinian refugees.
The committee voiced support for efforts exerted by President Hosni Mubarak to halt the bloodshed and put an end to the Israeli aggression on the unarmed Palestinians.
The committee underlined the UN General Assembly resolution No. 3379 in 1975 that considered Zionism one aspect of racism, which was later canceled in 1991 after the Israeli claims of establishing peace in the Middle East.
Yet, the true face of Zionism still shows in the aggression on the Palestinians, Israel has practiced religious persecution against Muslims. Zionists destroyed 1200 mosques during 1948 war and changed 100 others to restaurants, nightclubs and pens for animals.
