Toshka spillway contains excess water

Egyptian Ministry of Irrigation Water Resources and Mahmoud Abu Zeid will probe the time of opening Toshka spillway for the excess water of this year flood.

Abu Zeid said the spillway will open by the end of this month in the light of water volume reaching Lake Nasser. Abu Zeid highlighted that the spillway capacity of containing excess water would save Egypt against any emergency that may endanger water establishments and bridges along River Nile.

On the other hand, water level at Lake Nasser continued to rise on Friday morning. It reached 178,12 meters with 14 cm. increase over Thursday's level and the amount of water stored in the Lake reach 138,203 billion cubic metres.

A source at the High and Aswan Dams Authority said the amount of water discharged from Lake Nasser to the River reached on Friday 255 million cubic meters with five million metres increase over Thursday's amount, to meet the needs of irrigation, cultivation and electricity generation.
