Iraqi criticism to Kuwait over missing file
Iraq-Kuwait, Politics, 8/25/2001
The Iraqi minister of information Muhammad Saeed al-Sahaf on Friday criticized Kuwait's refusal to the proposal made by Baghdad to form an Arab committee to follow up the file of the missing in the Gulf war.
In statements he made in Baghdad on Friday, al-Sahaf said that Kuwait's refusal of the Iraqi call to establish an Arab committee to follow up the file of the Iraqi and Kuwaiti missing means a rejection to the charter of the Arab league, which also means that they do not have the right ( the Kuwaitis) to raise the issue of the Kuwaiti missing in the framework of the Arab League nor in any other Arab country.
Al-Sahaf also called on Kuwait to co-operate with the International Committee of the Red Cross and to provide necessary information about the 1142 Iraqi missing.
Last Saturday Iraq made an official proposal to the Arab League to found a follow up committee to the file of the Iraqi and Kuwaiti missing since the Gulf war in 1991, but members in the Kuwaiti government refused the Iraqi proposal.
