Sharon and al-Ghajar village
Lebanon-Israel, Politics, 8/25/2001
The London- based al-Sharq al-Awsat daily quoted a well-informed Israeli source as saying that after meeting with the Israeli prime minister Ariel Sharon, the latter ( Sharon) expressed readiness to withdraw from al-Ghajar village but under the condition to be handed over to Syria, rather than Lebanon.
The source said that Sharon was ready to hand over the village to Lebanon, but he retreated because of the rejection shown by the citizens of the villages who fears that Hizbullah will control it.
