Amman's airport observatory tower to an Israeli pilot: go to hell instead of goodbye
Jordan-Israel, Politics, 8/24/2001
The Israeli embassy in Amman has inquired the Jordanian authorities about a message an Israeli pilot received while leaving the airport by an Israeli plane from Amman to Tel Aviv stating:" Go to hell" instead of the usual phrase " Goodbye," according to statement made by the spokesman for the Israeli embassy in Amman Ameer Vicebroad.
The spokesman explained that when the plane which belongs to the Israeli airline " Arkya" took off on August 8th in an ordinary flight from Amman to Tel Aviv the pilot received the following message on the wave of the Queen Alia International airport observatory tower in Amman " go to hell instead of Goodbye."
The Israeli diplomat said:" since we are not sure if this message was actually made by an official at the observatory tower, we asked the Jordanian authorities to inquire about this matter and we are still waiting for the reply." Jordanian dailies and weeklies issued on Thursday quoted the al-Sharq al-Awsat published in London as asserting that " Israel considered this behavior as very dangerous."
