Speaker of morocco's parliament receives political affairs committee of Maghreban shoura council
Morocco-Maghreb, Politics, 8/23/2001
Speaker of Morocco's house of representatives, Abdelouahed Radi, received in Rabat on Wednesday members of the political affairs committee of the Maghreban Shoura council (legislative body of the Arab Maghreb Union).
The committee is meeting here this August 22-23 to prepare for the fourth Shoura council session slated for next September in Rabat.
A statement of the House of Representatives says Radi insisted on the mission of the committee and of the UMA shoura council to give a new impetus to common Maghreban action.
He also underscored the need to increase backing to the causes of concern to the Arab world, mainly the Palestinian people struggle for independence and the lifting of the embargoes enforced on Iraq and Libya.
In Tunis, the legal affairs committee also opened on Wednesday a session.
Two other committees of the Shoura council were convened recently, the basic infrastructure committee, which met on Monday in Tripoli, and the human resources committee which met last week in Algiers.
Recommendations of the four committees will be submitted to the consultative council.
