Jordan inaugurates three water projects

King Abdullah II of Jordan on Wednesday inaugurated three vital water projects in southern Jordan that will contribute to filling water deficit in the Jordanian province of al-Karack, al-Tufeilah and Amman and also serve agricultural and industrial, tourism projects in this area.
These projects are bringing the waters of al-Lajoun wells to the provinces of Amman and al-Karack whose first phase was completed and waters started to reach the two provinces.
In its last phase of this project the amounts of waters will be 56 million cubic meters per year at a cost of 25 million Jordanian Dinars.
The second project is al-Tannour dam in al-Tufeilah at a cost of 22 million Jordanian Dinars and stores 7.8 million cubic meters to be used for irrigation and mineral industries purposes.
The third project in al-Tufeilah province also for bringing al-Khasa wells waters to this province at a cost of 6 million Jordanian Dinars, at the support of the European Union. This project aims at providing the region with waters until the year 2025.
On the other hand, the director general of the Jordanian security Lt. Gen. Taher al-Fawaz on Wednesday met with the director of the Interpol in Greece lt. Gen. Nicolas Tasyublis, currently visiting Jordan, leading a delegation to learn about the Jordanian experience in fighting drugs.
