Egyptian delegation to Washington highlights need for peace efforts
Palestine-Egypt, Politics, 8/21/2001
Palestinian Minister of Planning and International Cooperation, Nabil Shaath, lauded the efforts of President Hosni Mubarak to put an end to Israeli aggression against Palestinians.
In an interview with Al-Ahram, Shaath said that the Egyptian high-level delegation's visit under the Presidential Political Advisor Osama Al-Baz to Washington conveyed a message to US Administration to exert its best to end aggression before further deterioration.
"Egypt calls for sending of peace observers to Palestinian areas and putting into action Mitchell recommendations," Shaath added.
Shaath criticized the inactive US role in the current situation and US Administration's denial to interfere.
"US President George W. Bush is not as his father, US President George Bush as the father has succeeded in forcing Israel into taking the course of peace whereas the son has achieved nothing for peace uptill now," Shaath concluded.
