Egyptian Minister of Culture Farouk Hosni approved an integrated project to restore and rescue Saladin's eastern fence in Cairo in accordance with up-to-date restoration technologies.

'The project falls within the national drive to rescue and rejuvenate Old Cairo,' said Gaballah.
Archaeologist Abdullah Al-Attar, Chief of the Islamic and Coptic Antiquities Sector, said that the stones of the fence will not be changed unless urgently needed in cooperation with Italian consultant Francisco Sirapo and engineer Elisa De Leono to maintain the features of the fence that dates back to the Ayyubid era.
