One Palestinian, his two children killed by Israeli missiles
Palestine-Israel, Politics, 8/21/2001

The Israeli occupation forces have committed acts against the unarmed Palestinians and targeted a house in Rafah resulted in killing the Palestinian citizen Samir Suleiman Abu Zeid and his two children Suleiman (5 year old) and ( Ala' 6 year old) and the wounding of 9 members of the same family.

The director of Rafah hospital said that " martyr" Abu Zeid and his two children arrived at the hospital as "burnt bodies" together with other nine persons of serious or medium wounds.

Eye-witnesses said they saw an Israeli missile fired at the house of the killed Palestinian and that the Israeli forces bombarded the house by two ground- to ground missiles, noting that what happened was a pre- fabricated assassination operation.

The Palestinian Falah Zeidan ( 30 year old) was killed when he was hit by a bullet in his chest fired by the Israeli soldiers in Nablus while the Palestinian worker Jamil al-Sha'er had his bones broken when he was beaten by the Israeli soldiers near Beit Jala.

Meantime, the Israeli authorities demolished three buildings for the Palestinians in Beit Hanania to the north of occupied Jerusalem and the Israeli settlers poisoned the sheep cattle of the Palestinians near Aqraba village in the West Bank.

Meanwhile, the Israeli prime minister Ariel Sharon threatened that his government will continue the policy of assassination and liquidating the Palestinian resistance. He disclosed that Israel, at the meantime, is using special teams to kill the Palestinians and to arrest them.

Israel, on the other hand, opposed convening a meeting for the UN Security Council to discuss the situation in the region at the initiative of the Palestinians and the Arab states.

The spokesman for the Israeli foreign ministry said the meeting will not contribute to push forward what he called work to return back to the table of negotiations.

For his part, the Israeli foreign minister Shimon Peres said that the road is still not paved to convene a meeting between him and Yasser Arafat. Peres threatened that Israel owns what he called the " fighting means" to foil the uprising.

The Israeli minister of tourism Rahb'am Seifi called for destroying the houses of parents and relatives of Palestinians who carry out " suicide operations." He described the " suiciders and their relatives " as Scorpio that have to be fully eliminated.

On Monday, the UN Security Council opened the first open sessions since five months to be allocated for discussions on the situations in the occupied Palestinian territories. The meeting was convened despite Israel's opposition which considers such a meeting contributing to internationalize the situation.

Upon opening the session, the Palestinian observer at the UN Naser al-Qidwa said that the situation in the occupied Palestinian territories has been deteriorating since March 27th when the US vetoed a decision aims at sending UN observers to the occupied Palestinian territories.

Al-Qidwa added that the abstination of the UN Security Council from taking any initiative since the launching of the Intifada is unjustified.

Some 43 representatives at the UN asked taking part in the dialogue in the first session.

In Paris, the spokesman for the French Foreign ministry Francois Revaso has called for exerting efforts in order to halt the escalation taking place in the occupied Palestinian territories.

Revaso added that the meeting of the UN Security Council might be useful to discuss conditions in the occupied territories as well as the current tour of the German foreign minister Yushka Fischer in the region.
