Salary increase in Syria

The Lebanese daily al-Safir said that the Syrian leadership will offer during the second quarter of September an increase in the state's employees salary estimated at 15% of their payment.
In its Monday's issue, the paper said that it learned from official sources that this increase aims at supporting the state employees to provide the costs of the beginning of the new school year besides a gradual plan to improve the level of the income of the Syrian citizen in the year 2005 by two folds of the current salary.
