King Mohammed grants free pardon to 1,177 persons

Morocco's King Mohammed VI granted free pardon to 1,177 persons on the occasion of the 48th anniversary of the Revolution of the King and the People, and on the occasion of Youth Day. Part of the amnestied people were granted total pardon, others had their jail terms reduced while some prisoners had their life jail sentences commuted into limited terms.
Morocco marks this Monday the 48th anniversary of the Revolution of the King and the People, which commemorates the exile of the Late King Mohammed V and the Royal Family by the French occupiers.
The Youth Day, which marks this year King Mohammed VI's 38th birthday, will be celebrated on Tuesday.
The king usually grants free pardon to inmates on the occasion of National and Religious Days.
