Israeli Druze and the military service

The regional committee of heads of the Druze local authorities in Israel has released a statement of protest in which it called on the chairman of the Lebanese Socialist Progressive Party Walid Junblat not to interfere in the issue of the compulsory military service of the members of the Druze community in being in an internal question of concern to members of the community who linked their fate to Israel, according to the Israeli radio.
The radio added quoting the secretary general of the Israeli communist Party Muhammad Nafaa as saying that his party was the first to call for canceling the compulsory military service. He called for convening a conference to this effect, adding that his party boycotts Amman's conference which was due to be convened on Sunday between the leaders of the Socialist Progressive Party led by Walid Junblat and certain figures who oppose the compulsory military service for the Druze in Israel.
