Muslims will not abandon al-Aqsa mosque
Palestine, Politics, 8/20/2001
The Mufti of Jerusalem and Palestine said Muslims are adhering to Al-Aqsa Mosque and will not relinquish one inch of its lands.
In statements Sunday on the occasion of "the heinous Israeli crime" which targeted Al-Aqsa Mosque on August 21, 1969, Sheikh Ekrema Sabri appealed to Arabs and Muslims to move to liberate Al-Aqsa from the Israeli occupation.
He said that the Higher Islamic Authority had held Israel responsible for burning the mosque when they denied fire brigades access to the mosque and cut electricity and water off.
Meanwhile, Al-Aqsa Mosque preacher Mohammad Hussein said the assault on the Mosque has not come to an end by the 1969 fire, adding that Al-Aqsa was still subject to dangerous attacks and provocations by Israeli authorities.
