Rare arch. piece in Alexandria library museum

The committee set up by Gaballah Ali Gaballah, Egyptian Secretary-General of the Supreme Council of Antiquities (SCA),started working on preparing the Alexandria Library museum as a prelude for the great opening in April 2002.
Gaballah, who visited the Library Sunday, said the possibility to place some archaeological pieces inside the Library halls is being considered.
The committee on antiquities approved placing the 13 meter-high Ptolemy III statue, which was salvaged from the sea in 1995.
Minister of Culture Farouk Hosni also approved setting the 8-metre-high status of Isis, which was salvaged in the 1960s, at the entrance of the Library.
Archaeologist Mona Serri, Director of the Library museum, said that the museum stands over an area of 1000 square metres on the ground floor of the Library.
