Armed forces are real guarantor of Egypt's security
Egypt, Politics, 8/18/2001

The Egyptian Minister of Defence and Military Production Field Marshal Mohammad Hussein Tantawi attended on Thursday a celebration marking the Supremacy Day and the handing-over of the Western Military Zone from staff Major General Al-Desouki Al-Banna, who was appointed Head of the Supreme Council of Luxor city, to staff Major General Nader Abdo Taha Qora, who was the zone's Chief of staff.

Field Marshal Tantawi conveyed President Hosni Mubarak's greetings to the Armed Forces and hailed the distinguished performance and sacrifices of the Armed Forces men.

"The Armed Forces are the real guarantor of Egypt's security against any foreign threat," said Tantawi.

"President Mubarak's statements that the Armed Forces are capable of protecting Egypt's borders and accomplishments have multiplied our responsibilities and prompted us to conduct more serious training in order to remain in the best shape and upgrade troop combat capabilities," said Tantawi.
