Oil flow in Yemen controlled
Yemen, Economics, 8/18/2001
The Yemeni weekly "September 26" said in its recent issue that large amounts of crude oil have flown from one of the oil wells in Qarha valley of Jardan directorate in Shabwa province and as a result covered an area estimated at 3 square kilometers.
The paper added that the well from which the oil was flown is one of four oil wells in which a Soviet oil excavation team dug in oil excavation operations just 20 years ago and seemed to have had stopped the excavation operations because they did not reach results indicating the existence of oil reservoirs in the area.
The paper added that local authorities in the governorate started sending specialized technical team to the valley which took necessary measures and was able to halt the flow of oil.
