Morocco, Sports, 8/17/2001
After he had announced he will be shifting to the 5,000 m race, triple world champ, Hicham El Guerrouj, will be competing this Friday at the 1,500 M race during the international athletics meet of Zurich.
El Guerrouj who holds the 2nd rank in the International Athletics Federation (IAAF) overall ranking won his third 1,500 world title in a row last Sunday at Edmonton's world championship and gave Morocco a 2nd gold medal.
Hicham, the only athlete in the world with five world records (outdoors 1,500 m, mile and 2,000 m and indoors 1,500 m and mile), is also scheduled to appear on August 24 and 31 in the Brussels and Berlin meets but has not yet made a decision on the IAAF grand prize slated for September 9 in Melbourne.
