Morocco's El Aynaoui Shocks 3rd seeded Hewitt in Indianapolis
Morocco, Sports, 8/17/2001

Morocco's Younes El Aynaoui rolled out on Thursday third seed Lleyton Hewitt (6-3, 6-7, 6-3) and booked a ticket to the quarterfinal of the Indianapolis tennis Championships.

For El Aynaoui, the victory washed away his recent memories of a close four-set loss to Australian Hewitt in the third round of Wimbledon. "This time I wanted to take revenge for Wimbledon," said El Aynaoui, who was out of the game for 17 months following two ankle surgeries in 1997.

On Wednesday, he swept through to the 2nd round of the Indianapolis tournament after defeating 14th-seeded Nicolas Escude of France, 3-6, 7-6 (7-3), 6-3.

The two other Moroccans who showed up in Indianapolis No 13 Hicham Arazi and Karim Alami took an early leave from the US$ 700,000-worth tournament.
